In a nutshell, any business or individual with an Australian Business Number (ABN) or Australian Company Number (ACN) is eligible for a .com.au or .net.au.

To be eligible for a .org.au the registrant must be a charity or non-profit organisation.

.id.au domain names are for individuals. No ABN is required. An example would be johnsmith.id.au
