Once a gTLD domain expires, it lapses into an expired state for 45 days. During this time no services on the domain will work (Email and websites will be down). If a domain has not been renewed by this time, it then falls into a 30 day Redemption Period. This provides the owner of the domain name a last chance to reinstate the domain for a $195 fee. This fee is not negotiable. After the redemption period the domain goes into the pending delete period,
just before it's released to the general public 5 days later.
